Stem Cell Technology

Stem cells are cells that have the ability to make more that can make more of themselves and can turn into different types of cells, like skin or other tissue types. Currently, stem cell technology is newly applied to the procedures of facelift and breast augmentation. Since 2005, there has been much interest and discussion regarding the use of stem cell technology in potential areas such as stem cell face lifts and stem cell breat augmentaition. In fact, the 2011 2nd Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and Anti-aging Medicine: The Next Generation symposium held in New York focused on the new developments in the science of stem cells.

Facelift

Stem Cell facelift represents a process whereby the hidden genetic potential of adult stem cells is awakened. Over the decades, multiple procedures have been presented for rejuvenation of the face, most of them stresing the need for extensive surgery in the form of a facelift. In the last 10 years, use of temporary fillers has become a very pouplar avenue for temporary rejuvenation, or at least for creating the illusion of a younger, morerested, facial appearance.

Now, with the advent of stem cell techology, and a wealth of information about the aging proecess, a revolutionary new proceudre, termed a “Stem Cell Facelift”.

The “Stem Cell Facelift” is a coplete facial rejuvenation procedure without involving any procedure. The procedure resotres the youthful contour and shape of the face as well as skin tightness, and evens out color irregularities caused by the aging process and environmental sun exposure.  This procedure is considered a revolutionary technique to facial rejuvenation.

The procedure is accomplished under local anesthesia in about an hour in the office setting.  This is a procedure that avoids the need for a hospital trip and general anesthesia.  Recovery time takes about a week.  At the end of this time, light powder and makeup is easily applied, and the results document an extremely natural, full rested facial contour.
The "Stem Cell Facelift" may also eliminate the need for ongoing facial "filler" injections like Restylane, Juvederm and the other hyaluronic acid fillers.  The improvement of the skin frequently eliminates the need for Botox for many patients as well.

Breast Enhancement

Breast Augmentation with stem cell technology is a procedure that use a woman’s own fat instead of breast implants to increase the size of the breasts. The fat is liposuctioned from a body area with excess fat, and then injected into the breasts for augmentation. The advantages of this procedure is that there is no need for an implant, and if the fat heals well, the breasts look and feel normal.

Currenlty, fat cell transplants are only used to treat small breast contour defets and small partical mastectomy defects, and cannot be transplanted to large spaces or for a full breast. However, it is predicted that in 10 to 15 years time this will be possible. This means that in the future, doctors would be able to manipulate stem cells

harvested from the patient’s own fat, and use them to fill the remaining skin enevelope to reconstuct the breast.
